Cartagena

Cartagena is less than an hour north of Vera close to Murcia airport. Flights from here are generally in the evening and Cartagena has been recommended as an interesting place to spend a few hours. With nearly 3000 years of history from Carthagian and Roman times to the Spanish civil war where it was a stronghold against Franco there is plenty to see and do. Then you can enjoy a last meal on the harbour front before heading for the airport.
